Basically, Cerebus was the baddest aardvark ever to wield a sword and attempt the Great Ascension, and it's all thanks to Dave Sim's twenty-six years of toil. Conceived as a 300 issue story arc, Cerebus's story has recently finished up its run. Although it lost focus in the last 100 issues or so, (Cerebus spent about twenty-five issues stinking drunk in the same bar, but that still beats the screenplay weirdness of Latter Days), the tale of the Earth-Pig Born through High Society, Church and State, and Mothers & Daughters was one for the ages. From King Julius to Astoria to Elrod the Albino to the mercurial Roach, Sim wove a cast of characters unrivaled in comicdom.
